Christmas Eve Eve Craft: Cinnamon Moose Ornaments

Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

Are you ready yet?!

Each year, Mom helps me make something to give to the special humans in my life.

Last year, we made salt dough pawprint ornaments
They were fun to make and give to everyone!
However, we have since found out they are toxic to pups - so DO NOT make them.
We snapped a picture and threw it in the trash and told our friends and family to do the same--better safe than sorry!

This year, we made Cinnamon Moose Ornaments!
They were fun, easy and smell delicious!!
(And safe)

We used the McCormick Cinnamon Ornament Recipe
See below for the full list of ingredients and steps or follow the step by step picture instructions

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F and then get to mixing the applesauce and cinnamon in a small bowl until a smooth ball of dough has formed

Roll the dough between two sheets of plastic wrap

Remove the top sheet of plastic wrap so that you may begin using the cookie cutters to cut your desired shape for your ornament.
We used our Moose cookie cutters from Aunt Kori!

Be sure to make a small hole at the top of the ornament (using the straw)

Place your cut shapes onto the baking sheet to bake for 2 1/2 hours

Once done baking, remove and cool
Insert your ribbon through the hole, wrap them up and begin gifting!

Also, be sure to hang one on your tree to enjoy!
Mom dated the back to be sure we knew which year they were from, too.

INGREDIENTS
  • 3/4 cup applesauce
  • 2 bottles McCormick Cinnamon, Ground
  • Cookie Cutters
  • Straw
  • Ribbon

DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees F
  2. Mix applesauce and cinnamon in a small bowl until a smooth ball of dough has formed
  3. Roll the dough into about 1/4 inch thickness between two sheets of plastic wrap
  4. Peel off the top sheet of plastic wrap
  5. Use your desired cookie cutters to cut the dough into shapes
  6. Using the straw, place a hole at the top of the ornament
  7. Place the cut shapes (ornaments) on a baking sheet
  8. Bake 2 hours and 30 minutes
  9. Cool on wire rack
  10. Once cool, tie the ribbon through the hole you made at the top of the ornament
  11. Wrap and enjoy the smiles on your friends and family's faces when they open!
This recipe makes about 12 to 15 ornaments

Moose Monday DIY Gift Idea: Thankful Treat Jars

Happy Monday!!

With it being the holiday season it is always a great time to reflect and realize how much we have to be thankful for especially our friends and family! One way we've decided to celebrate them is through thankful treat jars for our pup friends!

To make our thankful treat jars, we grabbed some Mason Jars

Then, we made a variety of homemade treats, including some we've shared on the blog:
As well as used some mini Milkbones that we bought!

Next, we filled the jars with the variety of treats

We sealed them with the lid and tied pretty ribbon on each of them along with a tag and a nice little note to let them know how thankful we are for them and how we wish them so much fun and love this holiday season!

We will distribute them this week as we celebrate our friends and family through the celebration of Christmas!

These treat jars are great for pup friends and you could make a human version for those special humans in your life, too!

Have a fantastic and thankful day!
